Prior to being a restaurant, the building housed a different type of food vender, Klun’s Market, an old fashioned family-owned grocery store that took phone orders, ran charge accounts and made deliveries.
It was a place where people shopped, shared stories and greeted neighbors and friends, new and old. The resident butcher, Tony Klun, was not afraid to offer advice, give cooking tips and share a joke or two.
For over 80 years, the family ground and smoked fresh sausage daily. Tony Klun’s spicy Italian blend of sausage became a staple in Ely, a tradition we are happy to carry on today.
